Spinning into Blue

This is my first mosaic. It's the top of a white end table (Pottery Barn by way of a thrift store). I picked up some stained glass scraps when my mother-in-law went to get books and supplies for her fabulous stained glass work. Since I don't own glass cutters, I wrapped the large pieces of glass in a towel and knelt on them to get workable pieces. the resulting slivers reminded my of pinwheel style flowers that I used to draw as a kid, which determimed the ultimate design.

I used this particular image of the table as the picture for the "pipes" screen saver in Windows, and that is a really fun way to reuse a piece and get a new perspective on it.
